This course is established by Dean 2026-01-12. The course syllabus is approved by Head of Department of Industrial Economics 2026-05-22 and applies from 2026-05-22.
Admission to the course requires 18 completed credits in industrial economics, or other technical field, and/or in business administration.
The aim of the course is for the student to develop knowledge of digitalization's business opportunities and business models. The course further aims to increase the student’s ability to develop and present digital business models and to collaborate in a virtual and international environment.

The course is an international collaboration, called "NetEconomy", which is conducted between several universities from, among others, Germany. The course is partly carried out via its own digital platform and with the help of various digital tools. The teaching takes place in the form of recorded lectures by international researchers and teachers, video meetings, individual and group assignments and discussion forums. During the course, the students develop and presents a new business opportunity/business model linked to digital technology. The work takes place in virtual teams with students from other international universities and with other cultural backgrounds. The course consists of three parts: 1) BTH-specific course and subject introduction, 2) NetEconomy part 1: Knowledge phase and 3) NetEconomy part II: Project phase.

The course will be graded A Excellent, B Very good, C Good, D Satisfactory, E Sufficient, FX Failed result, a little more work required, F Fail.
The examiner may carry out oral follow-up of written examinations.
The project assignment consists of both group-wise and individual assignments. The On-Campus examination consists of an online examination conducted on campus.
The information before the start of the course states the assessment criteria and make explicit in which modes of examination that the learning outcomes are assessed.
An examiner can, after consulting the Disability Advisor at BTH, decide on a customized examination form for a student with a long-term disability to be provided with an examination equivalent to one given to a student who is not disabled.
The course evaluation should be carried out in line with BTH:s course evaluation template and process.
