1. Descision

This course is established by School of Management 2013-06-13. The course syllabus is approved by Head of Department of Industrial Economics 2016-06-30 and applies from 2016-06-30.

2. Entry requirements

Admitted to the programme Master of Science in Industrial Management and Engineering.

3. Objective and content

3.1 Objective

  • The students should:
    acquire an understanding of entrepreneurship and
    innovation theory,
  • have good understanding of innovation and
    entrepreneurship patterns in different contexts,
  • acquire knowledge of relevant
    information resources and dissemination
    innovation.

3.2 Content

Basic concepts and models of entrepreneurship:

  • Entrepreneurship process
  • Entrepreneurial business opportunities;
  • Entrepreneurial creativity,
  • Entrepreneurial activity in different contexts

Basic concepts and models of innovation:

  • The concept of innovation,
  • Innovations in business and networks,
  • Innovation processes
  • Innovation capability
  • Innovation contexts

4. Learning outcomes

The following learning outcomes are examined in the course:

After the course the student will:

  • have knowledge and understanding of basic

entrepreneurship and innovation theory

  • understand the link between economic

growth and entrepreneurship and innovation

  • understand how and why entrepreneurial and

innovation processes may look different

  • understand how entrepreneurial

business opportunities are discovered and developed

  • have knowledge of business plans and their parts
  • ability to participate in and influence the creative process within

entrepreneurship and innovation areas

  • ability to utilize relevant information resources

in entrepreneurship and innovation

5. Learning activities

The course consists of lectures, group discussions,
individual work, student presentations, and
seminars.
Teaching is in English.
